Men: Three Steps to Look Smart in Today’s World
As much as we like to live on the internet, sometimes you have to actually meet people. That means you have to make yourself look presentable. It’s much easier than you think, and it may even be fun.
Good Hygiene Matters
You probably already know this, but some men don’t. The best way to look sharp is to shower, shave and get a haircut. Not only will you look good, but you will smell good and that is a huge plus. Keeping yourself clean helps your clothes stay clean and last longer. You will be more healthy, as well. In fact, a contributor for Everydayhealth.com states, “Good hygiene is critical not only to overall men”s health but also to being successful in life.”

Dress Appropriately for the Occasion
Think about what you are going to be doing. If you are going bowling, you don’t want to wear a business suit. You most certainly don’t want to wear jeans and a bowling shirt to a job interview, unless you are a professional bowler. An online business magazine lists an outfit for every occasion. They offer a dress code for each occasion to help men choose. Googling the event or occasion with outfit, such as searching “boating outfit” or “job interview clothes” will help you get a better idea of what to wear.
You should also think about the weather. Will you be outside? Will you be in an air conditioned building? Being properly dressed for the weather will allow you to focus on the situation at hand. Being too hot or too cold shifts your attention away from that focus.
Dressing appropriately includes wearing the right shoes. Again, you need to think about what you will be doing. Are you going on a hike? You won’t want to be wearing dress shoes or loafers. Running to the grocery store? Please at least wear tennis shoes and don’t wear your slippers. Those are to be worn at home.
Don’t Forget to Accessorize
Now that you have invested the time in grooming and dressing for the occasion, you should remember that the small choices sometimes impact the appearance the most. What kind of watch are you going to pair with your outfit? Remember there are some watches available that are designed to survive some pretty intense activities. You may want to wear a watch instead of packing your cell phone if you are going to skydive or rollerblade.
Take a good look at the bag or pack you have. Do you carry your laptop around in an old backpack? It’s most likely time to update. Get a bag that is made of timeless materials like leather and it can go just about anywhere with you. Avoid trendy lines and fabrics. That way, your investment will be stylish for years and years to come.
